The cartman or carter generally gets along with very few knots; the LOOP KNOT (#1009), the OVERHAND (#515), and TWO HALF HITCHES (#1710) are his usual equipment. The more finished practioners prefer the BOWLINE (#1010) and the FIGURE-EIGHT (#524).
